• Streaming video of the contest is now up and running at the official event website www.englandsurf.com. Surfing fans, friends and family can post messages to the beach and heat scores and schedules are updated hourly. Tonight’s party will be at the legendary Phoenix pub in association with Headworx with live music from 7pm.

• The Under 12 Groms also pulled out some impressive manoeuvres in their semi finals. Going through to the final this afternoon will be Jack Hough, Miles Hargreaves, Patrick Daniel and heat winner, Harry Timson. The women are also getting ready to compete this afternoon in the Open and Longboard categories. The male longboarders are warming up too, with a strong field of challengers including former British & English Champion Sam Bleakley and British Schools Champion Ben Howarth expected to fare well.

• With the surf picking up throughout the day, the excitement is building for tomorrow when the Men’s Open begins. All eyes will then be on Joss Ash as he starts the defence of his Headworx English Champion title.

• The 2-3 foot surf provided good conditions for the Junior Longboard semi finals. Devon’s Callum Clark and Ben Howarth were definite stand-outs and join Brendan Muir and Tom Cross in the finals which will take place this afternoon.

• Improved surfing conditions at Watergate Bay meant that Day Two of the Headworx English Nationals started with a bang. The Under 18 Girls were the first of many to battle it out today. Hannah Dixon, Jess Harvey, Zoe Sheath and Karma Withington were the ones to impress judges and make it through to the final.

• Bit of a delayed start on the website today, but the scores and photo's are on their way as quick as I can type them! Surf is looking better and should improve during the day, at the same time as the weather gets worse.
